EDITORIAL AND WRITING POLICIES


Liability

Clients are advised that they are responsible for the content, quality and final use of their text. The English Edge and its editors and writers cannot accept any liability for any loss, damage or injury resulting from any use of material edited and/or written by The English Edge and its editors and writers.

Delivery

All edited documents are blind-carbon-copied to a test email address to check that they have left our server. Clients are responsible for ensuring that their own email inboxes can receive their returned documents.

Student papers

We do not and will not, under any circumstances, write papers for or on behalf of students. Where The English Edge performs proofreading or editing on student papers, it is the client's responsibility to accept, reject, enter and ensure the accuracy of any changes that editors may suggest are needed to improve or to correct content, style, mechanics, grammar, etc.


CONFIDENTIALITY


All of our editors, writers, translators and instructors sign a confidentiality agreement, stating that they will not share or reveal the contents of clients' texts or documents, and that they will not discuss the nature of clients' projects or programs with any third party - with the exception to other editors, writers, translators and instructors at The English Edge (and as may only be necessary for providing service to the client). We will not release your email address or other details to any third parties, including mailing lists or any other electronic forum.

All our incoming and outgoing mail is scanned using continually updated MacAfee anti-virus software. All documents are held on a secure mail server and are deleted from our files 30 days following project completion. Payments are processed through Paypal's secure site. No cookies will be left on your computer by us.


PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Fees to The English Edge are due and payable on the following schedule: 50% upon agreement to have us work on a client's text or to have us instruct a client on writing, ESL or public speaking, and 50% upon completion of the project or program. 


OUR GUARANTEE & REFUND POLICY


We guarantee clients' satisfaction with the quality and turnaround time of the writing and editing that we perform. We also guarantee clients' satisfaction with the quality of instruction that they receive for writing, public speaking and English language-learning. There are certain provisions, outlined below, that allow clients to receive services until they are satisfied or to allow clients the option of not paying for services received.

If clients halt work and so inform the Director of The English Edge by registered letter or email (director@TheEnglishEdge.com), work completed shall be billed only up to the date and time of the above contact. Work completed up to said point will be billed at the rate agreed upon between clients and The English Edge at the outset of the project or program, and will be deducted from the initial payment. Any balance shall be returned to clients. If, at the time of the request for refund, work has been completed beyond the amount covered by the initial payment, clients shall be liable to pay for all work completed according to the rate specified at the outset of the project or program. No portion of this initial payment will be refunded unless written application to the Director of The English Edge is made within 30 days of when the project or program began. Once final payment has been made, the guarantee is no longer valid and no fees will be refunded.

If clients stop work, as per above, and wish to have The English Edge work on what has been submitted to clients up to the point when work was halted, The English Edge will work on that portion of the project until clients are satisfied. If clients wishes to have The English Edge then continue to work on the project, after satisfaction with previous work has been achieved, a new agreement for the completion of the project or program will need to be arranged between clients and The English Edge.
